Qualifications for Madison Ridgeland Youth Basketball Coaches:

*Men or Women that enjoy working with children of all athletic abilities(patient)

*Able to teach the basics of basketball and the skills necessary to play the game for the appropriate age groups

*To teach and model sportsmanship and fair play among teammates and competing teams

*To be a positive mentor and coach

*To not be found guilty of inappropriate behavior with a minor

Coaches are selected from those that register to coach and meet the Coaching Qualifications. All coaches and assistant coaches must pass a background check that looks for inappropriate behavior with a minor. Coaches are selected by the coaching needs in each age group. The selection process will include past coaching experience, positive or negative feedback from previous coaching experiences, time of registration to coach, timing of selection of coach pairings, and general public knowledge of those that volunteer to coach.

NOT ALL VOLUNTEERS TO COACH WILL BE SELECTED. SOMETIMES THERE ARE FEWER TEAMS THAN VOLENTEERS.
